U.S. Embassy Professional Development Workshop for ACCESS Providers June 2024

Coordinated and implemented by the U.S. Embassy in collaboration with Amal, this workshop provided innovative and enriching tools for use in the English classroom to ACCESS teachers throughout the country from ORT Israel, FUCAE (The Follow Up Committee on Arab Education), ENP (Ethiopian National Project) and Amal.  Workshop topics included AI, Global Education, Storytelling, US-Israel Relations, EcoPeace, Learning English through Music and more.       For more information about the presentations, please contact the Amal English Studies Department.

Access Graduation Ceremony – Eretz Israel Museum – 21.2.24

FY2019 – Access Graduation Ceremony – 21.2.24       After 2 years of Access study, some 160 twelfth grade high school students from 8 Amal schools participated in a formal Graduation Ceremony at the Eretz Israel Museum in Tel Aviv and received Certificates of Participation from the US Embassy.  24 of these students also received Certificates of Excellence. The students were addressed by Cultural Attaché Caroline Platt of the US Embassy who stressed the importance of being fluent in English for a brighter future in today’s world.  It is the US Embassy that sponsors the Access program which not only improves students’ English language skills but also raises awareness...

Amal’s ACCESS students meet US Ambassador Jack Lew

  ACCESS students from Amal Alsayed meet US Ambassador Jack Lew at a joint voluntary activity in Rahat.     On 22nd November 2023, ACCESS students from Amal’s Elsayad Multidisciplinary High School met with the new US Ambassador to Israel, His Excellency Jack Lew, during a unique volunteering incentive. Together with the Ambassador, the school’s principal Ibrahim Elsayad and English studies coordinator Ahmad Fokra, the students packed food parcels for distribution to the needy as part of an ongoing initiative that takes place in the southern town of Rahat. Amal English Coordinators’ Study Day 2021

The annual Amal Coordinators’ Study Day was held on Tuesday, June 15th, at the Yitzhak Rabin Center in Tel Aviv. The Amal English Department team prepared an interesting program for the day, included a presentation by Dr. Tziona Levi on mediation in the 2020 curriculum. Open Dialogue: Amal Students Share their Hopes and Fears, May 23rd, 2021

On May 23rd, 2021, in light of the security situation, the Amal English department held a zoom meeting between Jewish and Arab students. The students, who participated in the “Teens Make a Difference” program, sponsored by the U.S. Embassy, shared their feelings, fears and hopes in an open dialogue led by Steven Aiello, director at “Debate for Peace” and Younes Samman, translator and dialogue facilitator. Poetry Slam Closing Event 2021

The annual closing event of the Poetry Slam Program was held on 07.03.2021 via Zoom. This is the first year the event has been held in an online format. As part of the program, which is sponsored by the US Embassy in Israel, the students learned the principles of “Spoken Word” – “Spoken Poetry” in English. The students were exposed to models of writing “spoken poetry”, developed thinking and writing skills in English, acquired tools for standing in front of an audience and dealing with stage fright.
